Bulgaria

Bulgaria is situated in Southeastern Europe. It takes the eastern part of the Balkan peninsula. It borders Romania to the north; Serbia and Northern Macedonia to the west; Greece to the south; Turkey to Southwest and the Black Sea to the east.

Language: Bulgarians write in Cyrillic. It is different than the Latin alphabet and that significantly impedes the comprehension of information by foreigners.

Currency: Bulgarian lev (BGN). The lev has a fixed exchange rate to the euro; 1 euro = 1.95583 leva.

EU citizens do not need a visa in order to enter and leave the territory of Bulgaria with an identity card or passport for up to three months. When they meet the conditions arising from the EU legislation, they may also reside in the Republic of Bulgaria for a period of up to five years or permanently, for which a certificate is issued.
